August 2, 2024
Dear Parents,
I hope this message finds you and your family enjoying a restful and relaxing summer break! We are less than two weeks away from the start of the 2024-2025 school year, and have been working hard to provide families with a smooth transition. As always, we are very excited to provide your children with the best educational experience possible! We feel extremely fortunate to be part of your child’s school experience, and are committed to provide each of our students with a rigorous academic program which promotes student collaboration, critical thinking, and communication, as well as an inclusive school culture rooted in kindness, compassion, and empathy. There is a lot of information to be shared with families to prepare for the new school year, please read this message carefully to assure you have the most up to date information.
The first day of school is on Monday, August 12th. The gates will open at 8:10, and we will allow parents to escort students to their classrooms on the first day. Moving forward we ask parents to drop students off at the gates. Parents will need to sign in at the main office to enter campus.
Running Club will begin on Monday, August 26th, 2024. Until then, gates will remain closed until 8:10 AM. When Running Club begins, if parents plan to run with their children before school please enter through Gate 2 and sign in and out of campus. A sign in sheet will be available at Gate 2 each morning.

**Please remember that the whole first week will be minimum days for UTK and Kindergarten students. Students will be picked up outside their assigned gate at 12:20.**
UTK and Kindergarten Parent Back to School Night will be held on Thursday, August 8th from 4:00 - 5:00 PM. This is an adult only meeting that will review expectations, academics, and procedures for the upcoming school year. On Friday, August 9th, from 9:00am - 9:30 AM there will be a student only Teacher Meet & Greet, where students will have the opportunity to meet their teacher, see their classrooms, and meet new friends. Below is the flyer for both events.
Back to School night for First through Fifth Grade will be held on Wednesday, August 21st from 5:00 - 6:30 PM. More information will come in the opening Torrey Pines Tribune parent newsletter. The TPES main office will open on Monday, August 5th at 9:30 for questions and student enrollment. During the school year, our office hours are from 8:05 - 3:30 PM. On Wednesdays and minimum days the office hours are from 8:05 - 1:15 PM.
This week, we are working hard to create class lists. Please know that we tried our best to accommodate teacher requests, but unfortunately we were not able to accommodate them all. You will receive a welcome email from your child’s teacher on Friday, August 9th. In the past, parents were able to access this information through school platforms other than PowerSchool. This year these platforms have been disabled until the first day of school.
I have included the link to this year’s TPES Handbook. This outlines the processes, procedures, dress code, and school expectations below:

There have been many inquiries about this year's class supply lists, and have had many people recommend offering the option to provide teachers with Amazon gift cards or monetary donations in lieu of the traditional purchase of school supplies. This year we are offering either option to provide supplies for your classroom teachers. Below are grade level lists of the supplies that the students will need to begin the year. Due to the increased cost of materials, these supplies will cost approximately $50.00 to purchase for each student. If you would like to provide gift cards or monetary donations, the above mentioned amount would be greatly appreciated. We do understand that many families like to purchase supplies as a way to get ready to start the year. If you would like to do this, please send the supplies in with your child within the first few days of school. Please label all supplies with your child’s name, grade, and teacher so that if they are lost or misplaced they can be delivered to the correct classrooms. Also, any donations such as tissue, copy paper, markers, etc. to be used across all grade levels would be greatly appreciated. Please see our website for a complete list of general donations.
